RSL Art Union Tickets A Winner!

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Retired NSW farmer, Mr S* was over the moon when his RSL tickets made him the latest RSL Art Union lottery winner!

The triple treat win of a Gold Coast waterfront prize home, beach holiday unit and his and hers BMW’s made this humble winner an instant property millionaire. After having bought some rsl tickets initially, when the tickets and details arrived in the mail, Mr S decided he liked the prize so much that he’d boost his luck with a couple of extra tickets. It was one of the two extra tickets that won him the art union prize!

The delighted Mr S couldn’t believe it when he was handed the keys to his $1.7 Million prize combo.

More accustomed to the quiet life of rural NSW, Mr S had moved to Australia in the early 50’s from Italy. Mr S is looking forward to “the good life” and will share his fortune with his wife, two daughter and his grand kids.

The hardest choice now is whether to keep the portfolio, or sell for a tax-free windfall.

“Bellissimo!”

RSL Art Union Winner Celebrates with KFC Christmas Dinner (Dec 08)

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

The latest RSL Art Union winner of draw 261 “The Ultimate Trifecta”, was gob smacked when he was told about his triple prize win just 2 days before Christmas.

Mr M* shares, “I was shocked! I’ve never won anything!”

While he could have celebrated this Christmas win with champagne and caviar, the humble winner chose a dinner of KFC and Coca Cola instead. Mr M said this was by far one of the most happy moments of his life…  in fact, it seems all his Christmases came at once!

Mr M and his wife live in Salisbury SA and are the proud grandparents of 5 grandchildren.

When asked about his retirement plans, Mr M plans to keep working in the security field and enjoying spending time with his grand kids. The properties will go into his superannuation portfolio and will provide a nice nest egg when he does decide to retire down the track.

Mr M said that his parents had been buying RSL Art Union tickets for a great number of years, and in turn he took over buying them and has been doing so on a regular basis for about the past 5 years. When asked if he had any affiliations or connections with the RSL, he said that he had none but has always loved the RSL properties and has always wanted to win so kept buying tickets in the hope that he’d be a lucky winner one day.

Grand-Daughter of War Veteran Wins $1.39 Million RSL Prize Home (Jan 09)

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

A big congratulations to the latest RSL Prize Home Winner (Ms C*)… her ticket number came up in Draw 262!

Now the proud new owner of a new luxury $1.39 million home at Emerald Lakes, Ms C was over the moon with the exciting news of her winning $20 ticket.

Ms C’s grandfather battled in World War II, so she started supporting the RSL by buying RSl Prize Home tickets about 4 years ago.

She admits, “I wouldn’t say that I was born lucky, but when you consider that my long-term partner won a car a few years back, you could say that we’ve been pretty fortunate to win this house as well!”

A born and bred Tasmanian, Ms C is an active supporter of a range of charities and she genuinely likes to help others. In fact, when the General Manager of the RSL Art Union called her to tell her of her win, she was expecting a call from the Guide Dog Association about buying some tickets in one of their draws.

She was caught so off guard that she couldn’t find the brochure of the house she’d won. Instead, she actually had to look it up on the internet.

While she adores her new waterfront home, Mrs C doesn’t plan on moving to the Gold Coast just yet, instead she likes the idea of her new rental income making her current lifestyle a little more easy.

Along with her long-term partner and two kids, Mrs C. will look at her situation again in about a year’s time and may then decide to swap her busy life of committees and meetings for a relaxing lifestyle at Emerald Lakes. Until then, she enjoying the benefits of being a landlord!!

“Aussie battler gets key to Castle!” (Oct 08)

RSL Prize Home Winner October 2008

John Glaister 15 October 2008$10 VIP TicketFirst Prize Winner: $1,840,989

But his life took a major turn this week, one that left the ex-serviceman fighting back tears.

Believing someone was having him on, he initially dismissed a phone call telling him he had won the RSL Art Union’s $1.8 million prize home at Hope Island. When they called again, he realised it was no joke. “I got the call and thought someone was pulling my leg,” said Mr Glaister, who has bought two tickets in every rsl draw for the past few years.

“It was only when I got home and received another call that I realised exactly what had happened … it left me speechless and it’s all still sinking in. “I don’t think I have ever been this confused about my emotions … but now I have 1,800,000 reasons to be happy.”

The fully furnished Hope Island waterfront home has four bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen and a swimming pool. It offers the kind of lifestyle Mr Glaister could only once dream about.

RSL Art Union general manager George Mial-kowski handed the keys to Mr Glaister yesterday.

Nestled in classy Hope Island, Mr Glaister’s castle is one many would never want to leave.

Oozing elegance and with water lapping the back yard, the house’s space and its exquisite furnishings would satisfy even the fussiest person. An outdoor area provides the chance to enjoy cool afternoon breezes while overlooking the canal. The bedrooms and large downstairs media room are equally impressive.

Mr Glaister’s win also included $30,000 in gold bullion.

It is a huge change for the 46-year-old. He had grown his own vegetables to help offset the soaring cost of living and would often go hungry for days to pay the bills.

“I’ve had my ups and downs but I have been doing it tough,” said Mr Glaister, who said the win was just as big for him as it was his best friend Tanzen and her son, Seth Rice, 8.

“Am I happy? You’d better believe it.

“It’s life changing, not only for me but a lot of people, particularly my best friend who has supported me through a lot of tough times.

“I can afford now to move forward with life instead of trying to figure out how I’ll deal with just today.”
